BVM Virtual Tour, Sept 19th sponsored by 4Urban.org

4Urban.org’s Black Votes Matter (BVM) Virtual Black History Tour is based on the nationally recognized and highly acclaimed BVM Face-to-Face Black History Tour. The BVM Virtual tour is planned for Saturday, September 19, 2020, at 10:00 A.M., for an informative and stimulating two hour experience including a nationally renowned speaker (to be announced).

This groundbreaking African American History and cultural virtual tour will consist of live talks, pre-recorded videos, pictures, and a practical exercise focused on seven iconic civil rights destination

The virtual tour will be live-streamed on Facebook to allow for scores of youth to watch across the nation.

Our special guest Invitees include:

  • Youth nominated for the now-canceled, 2020 Face-to-Face tour
  • Youth from across the state of Nebraska, including students from Nebraska’s Teacher of the Year, Megan Helberg, Burwell, Nebraska, class!
  • Youth from the Omaha Metro, including Omaha Public Schools
  • Youth and adults across the Nation!

Students who formally register for the tour to watch on zoom will receive a FREE "Your Bridge to History" This childrens book is the recipient of national-level awards. All virtual tour participants will be inspired to investigate African American History, especially the Civil Rights Movement, on their own after this experience

We expect that this virtual tour will also have a tremendous, positive reputational impact for the city of Omaha and the state of Nebraska. The virtual tour will have national reach. Marketing will include Eventbrite, radio, social media, and a robust network.

The tour’s executive producers are five urban organizations, including The Institute for Urban Development, Black Votes Matter Institute of Community Engagement, The NOISE Organization, GINOSKO.co, and the Great Plains History Black Museum. Our host for the tour will be Dr. Viv Ewing.
